Banksy

Looters

Poking a finger in the eye of authority, like only he can. A caustic message laced with clever wit. Forever framing the Hurricane Katrina experience, while calling each of us to a higher level of conduct.  It took Elise Grenier and me four years to "save" this 10FT x 10FT BANKSY and put it on public display. View the extraordinary pictorial story in the hotel's BANKSY room.

BANKSY

Boy on a Life Preserver Swing

“Like Emile Zola said, ‘If you ask me what I came in this world to do, I, an artist, came to live out loud.’ I admire rebels, and the anonymous rebel BANKSY came to live out loud in New Orleans in 2008. His 16 stencils reminded the world that New Orleans matters. Did you hear the story of the fresco conservationist Elise Grenier, the improbable dump truck driver, the Italian chemist and me? Unreal story - 16 years in the making. So, with great gratitude, we feel impossibly lucky to put this mural back where street art belongs - on public display." - Sean Cummings, International House owner.
